Donations, Fan Appreciation Highlight Upcoming Promotions

Nov. 20, 2008

NORMAL, Ill. - With the giving and appreciation season now almost fully under way, the Illinois State Athletics Department has announced several upcoming promotions that will key in on the theme of giving back to others, as well as appreciating ISU's numerous loyal fans.

The promotions begin Friday, when the Illinois State volleyball team plays host to Southern Illinois in a key Missouri Valley Conference matchup at 7:05 p.m. in Redbird Arena. The ISU Athletics Department will be holding a canned food drive before the match. Any fan that brings at least one canned food item to the match will receive one free ticket to the Redbirds' Saturday night home match against Evansville.

All canned food items will be donated to the Midwest Food Bank in Bloomington, Ill. There is a limit of one free ticket per customer, and the free tickets will be distributed only at the north and east ticket windows of Redbird Arena.

Saturday is chock full of exciting promotions for Redbird Athletics fans. Fans are encouraged to come out to Hancock Stadium for Senior Day, as the Illinois State football team battles No. 9 Southern Illinois in the Redbirds' season-finale. Fans will have the opportunity to honor the Redbird seniors during a special pregame recognition.

The band "Plain Jane" will be playing a free concert in the Hancock Stadium east tailgate lot, beginning at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday.

Following the conclusion of the Illinois State-Southern Illinois football game, fans are encouraged to head over to Redbird Arena for the ISU volleyball team's regular-season finale at 7:05 p.m. against Evansville. It's "Fan Appreciation Night," and free prize drawings will take place for all fans in attendance. It will also be Senior Night for the Redbird volleyball team's senior student-athletes, with a special post-match recognition to take place on Doug Collins Court.

On Tuesday, the first 500 fans into Redbird Arena for the Illinois State women's basketball team's 7:05 p.m. game against Ball State will receive a free Redbird women's basketball key tag.
