Redbird Baseball to Host Blood Drive Tuesday, Dec. 2

Dec. 1, 2008

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will hold its annual blood drive Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the Redbird Room at Redbird Arena, from noon-6 p.m.

"With the holiday season getting started, this is a way for us to get in the giving mood," Illinois State head coach Jim Brownlee said. "We're pleased to partner with the American Red Cross for another year and encourage all eligible donors to come out and give a gift that can have a real impact on someone's life."

All blood types will be accepted and are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. To give blood, a blood donor card or valid driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 years old with a signed consent form in Illinois, and must weigh at least 110 pounds.

Donations take approximately one hour and the blood drawn can help save three lives. To make an appointment, or for more information on the blood drive, call (309) 438-3633. Registration is also available online at www.membersforlife.org.
