Special halftime performances by the world-famous Willie Arthur Smith Marching Cobras will highlight both of the Illinois State men's and women's basketball teams' Saturday home games at Redbird Arena. Also on tap this weekend is the "Redbird Super Fan 2008" promotion, which is set to take place Saturday at the ISU women's basketball game.
Fans are encouraged to come out to Redbird Arena all day Saturday, as the Illinois State women's basketball team will take on Eastern Michigan at 2:05 p.m., while the Redbird men's basketball team will play host to Bowling Green at 7:05 p.m.
The Marching Cobras will be performing at both games, with a short halftime performance during the ISU women's basketball team's game, followed by a full performance during halftime of the Redbird men's basketball team's Saturday night contest against Bowling Green.
The Marching Cobras, Kansas City's premier performing drill team, were founded in Kansas City, Mo., in 1969 by Willie Arthur Smith, a middle-school social studies teacher. The Marching Cobras numbers have grown to over 150 members currently, while the group has claimed more than 300 first-place finishes at competitions and parades during its 39-year existence.
During the second half of the ISU women's basketball team's Saturday afternoon game, one of two finalists in the "Redbird Super Fan" promotion will be chosen as ISU's No. 1 fan via fan voting that will take place during the game. Fans that bring one unwrapped youth gift for the WJBC Brotherhood Tree to the Redbird women's basketball team's 2:05 p.m. Saturday game versus Eastern Michigan will receive one free general admission ticket to ISU's Dec. 29 home game versus Eastern Illinois. There is a limit of one free general admission ticket per unwrapped gift.
Tickets are still available for both games. For just $13, fans can purchase a family pack of four general-admission tickets to the Redbird women's basketball team's Saturday afternoon game against Eastern Michigan. A family pack of two youth and two adult upper-bowl tickets for the Redbird men's basketball team's Saturday night game against Bowling Green will cost only $16.
The first 1,000 fans at both games will receive free Illinois State basketball schedule magnets, courtesy of the Illinois State Athletics Department.
