Illinois State head swimming and diving coach Steve Paska announced the addition of two recruits to Redbirds' signing class. Swimmer Morgan Buechele and diver Madicyn Prouty joined seven recruits as they signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers with Illinois State.
The class also includes Maryssa Beckman (Highland, Ill.), Kelli Goessling (St. Louis, Mo.), Jeanette Nolte (Naperville, Ill.), Sarah Rendek (Naperville, Ill.), Danielle Schumacher (Lemont, Ill.), Brianna Vigna (Dwight, Ill.) and Brianna Winkler (Olathe, Kan.).

Notable: Swim team captain her senior year ... received the Iron Pride award (MVP) her junior and senior years ... state qualifier the past three years ... varsity team member all four years ... four-year member of the soccer team.
Paska on Buechele: "Morgan is from Normal Community High School and to me it is somewhat symbolic to keep promising student-athletes in town to attend what I believe to be a prestigious institution. Morgan is coming off a fantastic senior season. She achieved a personal-best time and top-100 breaststroke time in the area. She is a young lady that I see an enormous amount of potential. She will add quality depth next year in the sprint freestyle and sprint breaststroke events. Morgan gives us a versatile sprinter that has the potential to excel with us further down the road."

Notable: Qualified for state meet all four years the first diver in Boone High history to achieve that feat ... holds the school record in the six-dive event with a score of 263 ... holds the 11-dive school record with a score of 425.65 ... four-year varsity letterwinner ... finished in the top eight in the Iowa state meet for the past three years ... finished third at State in the 2007-08 season.
Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann on Prouty: "Madi brings a wealth of diving experience not only on the one-meter board, but also on the three-meter. She will add to the strong foundation that we already have as a diving team. Building not only on the present, but also in the future, in continuing the diving tradition we have at Illinois State."
