Redbirds-Fighting Illini Rained Out Tuesday

March 18, 2008

NORMAL, Ill. - Due to a heavy rainfall that hit the Bloomington-Normal, Ill., area Monday night and early Tuesday morning, the Illinois State softball team's home game Tuesday against Illinois was cancelled. The two teams were originally scheduled to play a single game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Redbird Softball Complex in what would have been ISU's 2008 home-opener.

A makeup date for the game has yet to be determined. The Redbirds and Fighting Illini will next meet at 6 p.m. April 16 in Urbana, Ill.

The Redbirds have had four-straight series either postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather, and have missed 10-straight games since they last played March 2 against then-No. 23 North Carolina (ISU won, 2-0). ISU will now go on the road for nine-straight games, beginning with a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series Friday and Saturday against Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.
