Rain Cancels Game 3 of Illinois State-Southern Illinois Series

March 30, 2008

CARBONDALE, Ill. -

Due to heavy rains that continue to fall in the Carbondale, Ill., area Sunday morning, the Illinois State softball team's series finale against Southern Illinois at Charlotte West Stadium has been cancelled and will not be made up.

The cancellation marks the 11th game this season that has either been cancelled or postponed for Illinois State this season. On Tuesday, the Redbirds' game at DePaul was called off due to snow on the Blue Demons' field, and prior to that, the Redbirds had played just three games in a 19-day period.

After going 0-2 yesterday in the series-opening doubleheader against Southern Illinois, the Redbirds (11-14, 1-4 MVC) will conclude its season-long nine-game road swing Wednesday in Terre Haute, Ind., when they take on Indiana State for a midweek doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m. The games are the front end of a home-and-home doubleheader with the Sycamores, as the two teams will conclude the series XXXX with a single game at the Redbird Softball Complex.
