March 4, 2008

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State baseball player Kevin Dubler garnered more accolades for his impressive performance at the Austin Peay Invitational last weekend, as the junior catcher was named CollegeBaseballHub.com Regional Hitter of the Week. Dubler collected the honor for the Heartland Region, after he batted .571 with eight hits, four doubles, two home runs and seven RBI.

Dubler has already been named the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week , a member of the watch list for the 2008 Coleman Company-Johnny Bench Award delivered by AT&T and Papa John's Pizza and a member of the Austin Peay Invitational All-Tournament Team.

The Downers Grove, Ill., native tallied 18 total bases to go along with a 1.286 slugging percentage in three starts behind the plate. Dubler had his most impressive offensive performance Saturday against Valparaiso, as he had a career-high four hits, including a double and a two-run home run. He recorded four RBI, one shy of tying his career-high.

Dubler and the Redbirds will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take on Bethune-Cookman, Friday-Sunday, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
