KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Osiris Eldridge's breakout sophomore season continues to be recognized as the end of the college basketball season nears. One day after being named to the Missouri Valley Conference's first team, Eldridge was selected as a District 11 second-team member by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the organization announced Wednesday. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, were honored. The all-district selections are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-American teams, which will be announced Saturday, April 5, at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Eldridge, who finished second in the Larry Bird MVC Player of the Year voting, enters this week's State Farm MVC Tournament as the league's co-leader in scoring average (16.3 ppg), and has scored a conference-high 490 total points. In conference games, the Chicago native averaged a league-high 17.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game on a 47.2 field goal percentage.

The two-time MVC Player of the Week has recorded 25 double-digit scoring outputs, including nine efforts with 20 or more points. Eldridge, the 2007 MVC Freshman of the Year, poured a career-high 34 points at Indiana State (Feb. 16), scored a game-high 30 points against UNC-Wilmington (Nov. 18), and led all scorers with 27 points in ISU's 57-49 win at Southern Illinois (March 1).

A total of 10 student-athletes from eight schools were honored on the District 11 first-and second teams. Southern Illinois' Randal Falker and Bradley's Daniel Ruffin were also named to the second-team.

In the Division I era, Illinois State has seen seven players garner All-America honors. Doug Collins was a three-time All-American from 1971-73; Ron deVries collected All-America honors in 1974; Robert Hawkins was named an All-American in both 1974 and 1975; Jeff Wilkins secured back-to-back All-America honors in 1976 and 1977; Billy Lewis collected All-America plaudits in 1978, and Tarise Bryson was named an honorable mention All-American in 2001.
