Fans of NCAA Division I athletics will have plenty of entertainment options Saturday, April 19 on the Illinois State campus, and they will even have an opportunity to purchase the same athletic gear that the Redbird student-athletes wear with a department garage sale.
The ISU Athletics Department will conduct a garage sale to begin the day's events. The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Horton Field House, and will feature T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, sweat pants and other various apparel items.
At 1 p.m., inside Hancock Stadium, the Redbird football team will conclude spring practice with the annual Red-White Scrimmage. The game will pit the ISU offense against the defense with a non-traditional scoring system.
Prior to the game, patrons are welcome to tailgate. The Ropp Lot (G-83), which is north of Hancock Stadium off Main Street, will be open at 10 a.m., so that fans may tailgate prior to the scrimmage, if they chose.
At noon, the ISU softball team will be hosting Wichita State at the Redbird Softball Complex in a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader. The Redbird baseball team will also be in action, beginning at 2 p.m., at Duffy Bass Field, when ISU plays host to Chicago State in a non-conference matchup.
