NORMAL, Ill. -
Join the Illinois State women's basketball team for a celebration at Redbird Arena on Thursday, April 24, to commemorate the Redbirds' remarkable 2007-08 season. Admission is free to the public and there will be complimentary snacks and drinks provided, courtesy of the Illinois State Athletics Department. The Redbird Arena doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the party will go from 7-8 p.m.
Head coach Robin Pingeton, her coaching staff and players will all be on hand to relive all of the memories from the past season, including a Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season co-championship, a State Farm MVC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance for the Redbirds.
"The Illinois State basketball program would like to thank all of our loyal fans with this celebration," said Pingeton. "It is hard to believe it is the end of our fifth year at Illinois State, but this season was certainly one of our most exciting and successful. From team accomplishments to individual honors, it was a very rewarding year and yet another step in our building process for this program. We have great student-athletes who make us proud in so many ways and while we will miss the seniors, the future is very bright and great things will continue to happen in the future."
There is no registration or RSVP required for the event and free parking will be available in the Turner Lot on the East side of Redbird Arena and in all West Campus parking lots. A highlight video of the season will be shown and the annual Redbird basketball awards will be presented. Seniors Tamara Butler, Tiffany Hudson, Lashawn Johnson and Heather Page will be honored for their years with ISU basketball and will give speeches.
