NORMAL, Ill. -
Sophomore Stacey Miller earned yet another Missouri Valley Conference honor as she was named to the 2008 Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete first team. Miller was also named first-team All-Missouri Valley and claimed MVC Golfer of the Week honors on Oct. 31, 2007.
"Stacey has been a leader for us all season, both on and off the course," said head coach Darby Sligh. "She is very deserving of each of the awards she has earned this year and I really think that we are just scratching the surface as far as her ability."
A Bloomington, Ill. native, Miller was second on the ISU team with a scoring average of 77.8, and led the Redbirds in events played with 11, as well as rounds completed with 27. Miller also claimed top-10 finishes at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational (Oct. 1-2, 2007) and the Ross Resorts Invitational (Oct. 29-30, 2007). She posted a two-round-total of 149 (73, 76) to finish in a tie for seventh at the Sunflower Invitational and carded a three-round-total of 233 (78, 77, 77) on her way to a 10th-place tie at the Ross Resorts Invitational.
"The sky is the limit for Stacey athletically and academically," Sligh added. "She really broke out this season and I am looking forward to watching her improve over the next few years."
Miller and the ISU women's golf team are back in action May 8-10 as they compete in either the East or Central NCAA Regional. The Redbirds find out which site they are competing at on Monday, April 28.
