CARMEL, Ind. -
After struggling with their short game in the first two rounds of the Indiana Invitational, the ISU women's golf team recorded a final round 305 en route to a three-round-team-total of 936 (312, 319, 305) and a 12th-place finish. In the 15-team, 54-hole event, the Redbirds were led by redshirt sophomore Marisa Milligan, who posted a three-round-total of 225 (74, 76, 75), on her way to a 17th-place tie individually.
Only one other Redbird finished the event in the top-50 as sophomore Laura Harris finished tied for 46th with a three-round-total of 236 (79, 82, 75).
After a rough start, head coach Darby Sligh was pleased with the way her team responded in final-round action.
"Today was a much better day for us top-to-bottom," said Sligh. "We got back to playing the way we are capable and each of the girls had very good rounds. Marisa and Laura each had very good rounds that would have turned into great rounds without just a few hiccups. "
Purdue cruised to the team title with a 42-stroke victory. The Boilermakers posted a three-round-team-total of 852 (279, 282, 291) and also claimed individual-medalist honors as Junthima Gulyanamitta finished in first-place with a three-round-total of 209 (67, 68, 74).
Next on the slate for ISU is the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships, hosted by Creighton at the Oak Hills Country Club, Sunday-Tuesday, April 13-15. Tee times have yet to be announced. Live scoring will be made available at Golfstat.com.
