Basketball Game-Day Program Voted Best in the Nation

June 2, 2008

NORMAL, Ill. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) named the 2007-08 Illinois State men's basketball game-day program as the best in the nation Monday, finishing ahead of second-place Arkansas, third-place Wisconsin and fourth-place Kansas.

This is the fifth time the Illinois State Athletics Media Relations Office has produced a top-ranking publication since 2000, and it marks the first time since 2000-01 that the Redbird men's basketball game-day program was recognized.

Illinois State Athletics Media Relations Graduate Assistants John Sandberg, Jill Speer and Keith Trivitt all received recognition by CoSIDA for their work on the program.

"This is truly a testament to the amount of pride John, Jill and Keith put into their work," said Todd Kober, assistant athletics director for media relations. "Being a graduate assistant in this office is not an easy path to take, but all three have accepted the role and risen to the challenge. I'm extremely proud of their accomplishment, and it is well deserved."

The contest rankings were decided upon by three judges, which were coordinated by Terry Owens of Beloit College. Criteria for grading included team information, change pages, feature material, graphics and design and editorial content.

In addition to the first-place finishes, Illinois State's publications have earned other high marks from CoSIDA, with nine top-three finishes in the last eight years.
