WINNIPEG, Canada -
Former Illinois State quarterback Kevin Glenn and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers continued their rough start to the 2008 Canadian Football League season, as the Bombers fell to the B.C. Lions 42-24, Friday night at Canad Inns Stadium.
The Blue Bombers were expected to return to the Grey Cup this season, but have started the campaign with a 0-3 record. Following a 33-yard return on the opening kickoff, Glenn led the Bombers on a five-play, 20-yard drive that resulted in a 48-yard field goal and an early 3-0 lead.
The lead was short-lived as the B.C. Lions scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive, which sparked a 35-2 Lion run. Through two-and-a-half quarters and trailing 35-5, Glenn was pulled for the second-string quarterback Ryan Dinwiddie. Glenn had completed 9-of-17 passes for 86 yards, but had thrown two interceptions, prior to the change in quarterback.
With B.C. having the game in hand, Winnipeg and Dinwiddie outscored the Lions 19-7 in the game's final 23 minutes. Glenn never returned after being substituted for.
The two teams will meet next Friday, when Winnipeg travels to British Columbia for a 9 p.m. CST start.
