NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State infielder Kevin Tokarski was name Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL) Co-Player of the Week for the period ending July 13, as announced by the league office Monday.
Tokarski, a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2008, led the CICL in hitting last week with a .476 (10-for-21) average, tied for the league lead in hits (10) and total bases (14), and knocked two triples, while helping the Dupage County Dragons score 49 runs in eight games.
Tokarski was also second in slugging percentage (.667), tied for third in runs scored (6), and was third in on-base percentage (.520) during the week. He shared the honor with Dragons teammate Jordan Tokarz (Eastern Illinois).
The Downers Grove, Ill., native is hitting .333 through 25 games and is reaching base at a .430 clip. Both figures are top-10 marks in the league.
