Glenn, Bombers Fall Again to BC, 27-18

July 19, 2008

VANCOUVER, Canada - After completing a 74-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter it looked like former Illinois State quarterback Kevin Glenn was going to silence his critics, but Winnipeg surrendered a fourth-quarter lead and Glenn threw three interceptions as the Blue Bombers suffered their fourth-straight loss after falling to the BC Lions 27-18, at BC Place Friday night in Canadian Football League action.

With the loss, the Blue Bombers are now 0-4 on the season after being tabbed as a favorite to represent the East Division in the 2008 Grey Cup.

Winnipeg jumped out to a 7-0 lead thanks to Glenn's 74-yard touchdown pass at the 7:05 mark in the first quarter. The Blue Bombers led 11-4 in the second quarter until Glenn threw his second interception of the game, which was returned 37 yards for a touchdown by the BC Lions and tied the score, 11-11.

The score remained tied, 11-11, heading into halftime and Winnipeg regained the league in the third quarter after the Blue Bombers' Cam Hall intercepted a pass and ran it 22 yards for a touchdown. With an 18-11 lead opening the fourth quarter Winnipeg appeared to be in control, but the BC Lions outscored the Blue Bombers 16-0 in the final frame for the nine-point victory.

Glenn completed 18-for-28 passes for 256 yards, but his three interceptions proved costly. The former Redbird now has three touchdown passes on the season, but has thrown eight interceptions.
