NORMAL, Ill. -
College basketball coaches from around the country are convening in Kansas City Aug. 17, to participate in the first annual College Basketball Experience (CBE) Celebrity Golf Classic at the National Golf Club, and Illinois State's Tim Jankovich is one of them.
The two-day tournament event offers a unique opportunity to play golf alongside NCAA Division I head coaches and interact with the entire group of coaches at the various CBE Golf Classic events.
The CBE Celebrity Golf Classic is a fundraiser for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Foundation, the non-profit arm of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, headquartered in downtown Kansas City. Funds will directly support the ongoing operation of the College Basketball Experience & National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, which are a vibrant part of Kansas City's downtown revitalization and a key component of the city's growing national reputation.
"I'm honored to have been invited to participate in such a worthwhile cause," said Jankovich. "The recent opening of the college basketball hall of fame was a tremendous addition to our sport. I'm just a small part, but I'm looking forward to helping with this charity event."
In addition to Jankovich, other participating current and former head coaches include Bill Self, Tubby Smith, Lon Kruger, Phil Martelli, Mike Anderson, Dana Altman, Frank Martin, Bo Ryan, Travis Ford, Greg McDermott, Nolan Richardson and Gene Keady.
