Aug. 27, 2008

NORMAL, Ill. - Senior center Jonathan St-Pierre received Illinois State's first preseason All-America honor when he was named to the 2008 College Sporting News Preseason All-America Third Team Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound offensive lineman has started the last 20 games for the Redbirds after transferring from Miami (Fla.). In 2007, ISU amassed 2,194 rushing yards and St-Pierre was instrumental in that production, while anchoring the offensive line. He played 788 snaps last season and posted 37 knockdowns.

St-Pierre was one of 15 Missouri Valley Football Conference players named to the three All-America teams.

The Longueuil, Quebec, Canada, native, and the rest of the Illinois State football team begin the 2008 season Saturday at Marshall. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CST.
