BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
Several members of the Illinois State men's basketball team took time out of their schedules to participate in the Sheridan School's 18th Annual Back To School Parade Friday morning. The elementary school in Bloomington holds the parade at the beginning of every school year to welcome its new and returning students.
Seniors Emmanuel Holloway, Brandon Holtz and Chamberlain Oguchi, juniors Osiris Eldridge and Sead Odzic and sophomore Alex Rubin joined the Sheridan students in a parade of 15 blocks around the school's neighborhood. All of the students created costumes and signs that displayed the school's slogan, "Sheridan Gives Back" and the school's band played along the sidewalk. The Redbird student-atheltes and Reggie the Redbird walked among the Sheridan students on the sunny afternoon, even giving out high-fives to the many spectators along the parade route.
The Bloomington Shriners, the Bloomington High School marching band, the Bloomington Fire Department, and several mascots from local businesses can companies also joined in on the festivities.
