Illinois State junior women's golfer Stacey Miller wrapped up day two of the 108th U.S. Women's Amateur at the Eugene Country Club Tuesday with a five-over par 77, and sits in 110th place, at 14-over par (158), for the championship. Miller improved by four strokes from Monday's opening round, carding three second-round birdies.
The projected cut following two rounds of play is at eight-over par, where 10 players are tied. Stephanie Na (Australia) and Amanda Blumenherst (Scottsdale, Ariz.) share the lead at four-under par.
Miller started her round on the front nine, and bogied two of the first three holes. Her first birdie of the day came on the par-three seventh hole. Miller finished the front side with a par on the eighth, and a bogie at the par-four ninth hole; she made the turn in a three-over par 38.
On the back nine, Miller started with a bogie at the par-four 10th, before birdying the par-four 11th hole. She bogied two of the ensuing three holes, but finished the back nine strong. Miller carded a par on the 15th hole, birdied the par-five 16th, and fought off a bogie on the 17th hole with a par on the par-four 18th, one day after recording a double-bogie on the hole. She finished the back nine with a two-over par 39.
