EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior Daniel Tobar gained another singles win Sunday, as the Illinois State Redbirds completed the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Ill.

In singles play Tobar bested Patrick Dwyer of Iowa in a super tiebreaking match, 6-1, 3-6, (10-7), which left Tobar with a 3-1 singles record.

Sophomore Filip Miljevic was eliminated by Western Michigan's Zeyad Montasser in the consolation semifinals, 6-3, 6-1. Miljevic ended the tournament with a 2-2 singles record.

"Daniel played much better today," said head coach Cris James. "It wasn't his best tournament, but he played hard during some clutch points and it paid off. Filip's match was fairly even, it could have gone either way. He faced a good competitor."

The Tobar and Miljevic duo defeated Richard Robertson and Evgeny Samoylov (Bradley), 8-2, in a consolation doubles match.

"The guys played much better in doubles today," said James. "It's hard to tell if we have made big improvements when we play different teams. Overall, it was a good weekend. We faced good competition and came out with some wins. We have a lot to work on for the guys to play at the level I want, but it helped build their confidence."

The rest of the Redbird squad will join Tobar and Miljevic next weekend at the Ball State Invitational in Muncie, Ind.
