INSIDE GOREDIBRDS.COM: Strength & Conditioning Web Page Redesign
What is it?   A page on the Web site that provides potential and current student-athletes state of the art strength and conditioning resources | Click here for more info
Where to Find It   Under the Athletic Department drop down menu under Strength & Conditioning
What is on the page?   Philosophies and instructional material to improve strength & conditioning training

The Illinois State Athletics Media Relations Department is continually updating Web pages on GoRedbirds.com. The most recent endeavor is the Illinois State Strength and Conditioning Web page, which offers current and prospective student-athletes the resources they need to successfully train for their sport. This includes information on nutrition, strength training, speed and conditioning training and philosophies on flexibility.

The redesigned strength and conditioning Web page features strength training and speed and conditioning instructional videos, as well as written instructions on each movement. As well as an overview on nutritional information including a complete food list, directions to calculate individual caloric needs and basic nutrients guidelines.

The field of strength and conditioning has developed into one of the most vital components of any collegiate athletics program. The Illinois State Strength & Conditioning program utilizes a state-of-the-art facility combined with a scientifically based and safety driven environment. This allows all Redbird student-athletes both an increase in athletic performance and a decreased likelihood of injury. Take a virtual tour of the Richard and Fran Owen Strength & Conditioning Center in Redbird Arena here.

One size never fits all. That's why the Illinois State staff take the time to build strength and conditioning programs one student-athlete at a time. The needs and goals of each and every individual student-athlete--no matter what the sport--are different.
