With its first-ever back-to-back 20-plus-point wins over Missouri Valley Conference opponents, the Illinois State men's basketball team jumped considerably in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls that were released Monday.
With an 80-50 win over Evansville last Wednesday, followed by an 86-64 victory over preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite Creighton, the Redbirds received 50 votes in the coaches poll and enter the week ranked No. 27 nationally.
The Redbirds received 39 votes in the AP poll and are ranked No. 36. Illinois State is back in action Tuesday when the Redbirds travel to Bradley for a 7:05 p.m. start.
