Editor's Note: Throughout the 2008-09 season, members of the Illinois State women's gymnastics team will be providing Redbird Athletics fans with an inside look into their team, as well as a glimpse into the daily life of an Illinois State student-athlete. The Second blog in the series comes from gymnast Robin Weissman.
Hey Redbird fans! This is Robin Weissman of the Illinois State gymnastics team. Our first meet was Sunday, Jan. 4, in our very own Horton Field house against SEMO (Southeast Missouri State).
Leading up to our first meet, we were well prepared in the gym. In our dual against SEMO we made a few mistakes here and there, but they can easily be corrected. We will continue to work hard in practice and we are looking forward to the rest of our exciting season!
Thank you to all the Redbird fans who attended the meet! It is hard to keep up our attendance because it was in the middle of winter break but we still had a good crowd! President Bowman and his wife and ISU Director of Athletics Dr. Zenger were in attendance. We also would like to give a special shout out to our volunteers from Gymnastics Etc., they helped out during the meet and also gave a excellent exhibition show.
We also held an autograph session after the competition which was successful. Hope to see you all at our next home meet, January 23 against Bowling Green at 7 p.m.
GO `BIRDS!
