The Illinois State men’s tennis team is heading home after the doubles pair of Filip Miljevic and Alexander Pelaez lost in Sunday’s competition at the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships. The duo was the only remaining Redbird team alive in the single-elimination tournament. Three other doubles teams were defeated on Saturday and all eight ISU players were ousted from singles play on Friday.

Miljevic and Pelaez were downed by Ohio State's Matt Allare and Shuhei Uzawa, 8-2. The Ohio State team is ranked fourth at the tournament.

Overall, the Redbirds posted a 16-12 record for the regional tournament, with a 12-8 singles mark and 4-4 doubles record.

The team’s next competition will be the Western Michigan Vredevelt Invitational, which begins Oct. 30 in Kalamazoo, Mich. The three-day invitational will be the last tournament of the fall season for the men’s tennis team.
