Day One Suspended at State Farm Illinois Collegiate Softball Championship

Due to weather and field conditions, day one games of the State Farm Illinois Collegiate Softball Championship were suspended until Sunday as announced by tournament co-hosts the Illinois State softball team, Bloomington-Normal Area Sports Commission and the Town of Normal Parks and Recreation.

The tournament will resume Sunday (Oct. 4) at 10 a.m. with pool play. The team matchups will remain the same for pool play with game times at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., but bracket play for has been cancelled.

In pool A, Lake Land College was ahead, 1-0, over Bradley in the bottom of the first inning, while in pool B Illinois and Northern Illinois were tied 3-3 in the bottom of the first.

Heartland led SIU-Edwardsville, 1-0, in the bottom of the second inning in pool C, while SIU-Carbondale and Eastern Illinois were tied at zero in the bottom of the second in pool D.

The tournament features 10 NCAA Division I softball teams from the State of Illinois as well as two junior colleges. Participating teams for the event include Bradley, DePaul, Eastern Illinois, Heartland Community College, Illinois, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Lake Land College, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois Carbondale, Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Western Illinois.

Tickets for adults are 20 dollars for the weekend or 12 dollars per day. Tickets for youth and seniors are 12 dollars for the weekend or 8 dollars per day. Children age five and under are free. A concession ticket valued at one dollar will be included with each admission purchased. Tournament passes will receive two concession tickets.

Illinois State will begin action in the tournament with a 12:30 p.m. game against Northern Illinois, followed by a 3 p.m. contest against Illinois.
