For the past nine years, the academic accomplishments of Illinois State student-athletes have been celebrated in a gala event in Redbird Arena. To commemorate the 10th anniversary celebration this year, the name of the event has changed to The Reggies, sponsored by State Farm Insurance, and will be held Oct. 25 in Redbird Arena.
The Reggies will honor all of the Redbird student-athletes who were named to the AFNI Athletics Honor Roll during the 2008-09 academic year. Several other awards will be presented to outstanding student-athletes for various achievements, including the Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards.
Illinois State Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger will serve as the keynote speaker at the event.
