Illinois State sophomore middle blocker Tabitha Visk was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team. Visk was one of six players on the first team and is now in contention for Academic All-America honors.
Visk is second on the team in kills (231) and blocks (53) and third in kills per set (2.46). She has recorded double-digit kills in 12 matches, including the first four of the season. She had a career-high 16 kills in a four-set win over Southern Illinois and had 15 kills and four blocks in the matches against UT-Arlington and Loyola.
Visk has a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) in family and consumer science.
There are eight districts recognized by the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District program. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or a key contributor to her team. All first-team members are eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be voted on next week.
