NORMAL, Ill. -
As if an 18-home game schedule wasn't enough, fans of the Illinois State basketball program will have another opportunity to see the 2009-10 Redbirds in person Wednesday night. Head coach Tim Jankovich and his staff will conduct an intrasquad scrimmage on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The Redbirds, which were picked to finish third in the Valley preseason poll, will be led this season by seniors Osiris Eldridge, Dinma Odiakosa and Lloyd Phillips. Eldridge was named the Valley's Preseason Player of the Year for a second-straight season last week at the conference's media day event.
Illinois State will host Quincy Nov. 11, on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena for the Redbirds' lone exhibition game prior to the start of the season. ISU will officially begin the 2009-10 campaign Nov. 15, when Illinois State plays at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
