NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State point guard Lloyd Phillips has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the Redbird basketball team to deal with personal issues and will not travel with the team to Evansville as announced by head basketball coach Tim Jankovich Tuesday.
"Lloyd is working through some personal issues right now, and he won't be joining us on this trip," said Jankovich. "We continue to support him during this time."
Phillips, who has played in all 24 games this season, including 22 starting assignments, ranks third on the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game. He is also the Redbirds' leading three-point field goal shooter with a 41.7 percent success rate, while leading ISU with 85 assists.
