Final Stats

MIAMI - Senior Marci Hill and junior Marisa Milligan led the Illinois State women's golf team to a 54-hole team score of 934 (304-318-312) and a 10th-place finish at the Qdoba Invitational Tuesday. Hill (77-78-78) and Milligan (73-81-79) both fired a 17-over-par 233 in three rounds to finish the tournament in a six-way tie for 31st place on the par-72 course.

"Tiffany stepped up for us (Tuesday), which we needed," said head coach Darby Sligh. "Overall, we had trouble finishing (Tuesday), but I believe that we were able to take away some positive aspects of this tournament, despite our finish. We are very excited to head to our next event (Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Feb. 22)."

Juniors Stacey Miller (78-78-81) and Laura Harris (76-82-79), along with senior Tiffany Hockensmith (80-81-76) all ended the tournament in a seven-way tie for the 43rd spot with a three-round total of 237. Miller carded a 9-over-par third-round score of 81 Tuesday, while Harris carded a 79. Hockensmith tallied the best third-round total for the Redbirds with a 4-over-par 76. The score was also Hockensmith's low round of the tournament.

Georgia State won the tournament with a 27-over-par team score of 891 (291-299-301). Tulane moved into the second spot at the end of the third day with a team score of 900 (301-305-294), while Louisville stayed in third place with a 54-hole team total of 901 (299-296-306). ISU bested South Florida (935), UNC-Greensboro (948), Memphis (968) and Mercer (1001).

Cindy LaCrosse from Louisville won the tournament by firing a 2-over-par three-round total of 218 (74-72-72). Georgia State's Iliska Verwey took second place with a 220 (73-73-74), while Sydney Cox from Oklahoma City rounded out the top-three with a 221 (77-72-72).

The Redbirds will be back in action Sunday at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C. The tournament will be a three-day event.
