After a short week of practice, the Illinois State gymnastics team will travel to Chicago Saturday to take on host Illinois-Chicago, in a Midwest Independent Conference Meet. The competition is set to begin at 5 p.m.
The Redbirds enter Saturday's meet after a loss to UIC Wednesday night. The `Birds struggled to maintain their consistency throughout the entire meet. However, the student-athletes feel more confident after having a short break to rest their injuries.
In Wednesday's meet against Illinois-Chicago the `Birds scored a 192.400, which was not enough to beat the Flames 193.725.
Senior Meaghan Koshman placed in the top-three in two events during her final meet in Horton Field House. Koshman placed first in the floor routine with a 9.800 and tied for second on the vault with another 9.800. Freshman Melissa Mann also captured a first place finish for the Redbirds with her 9.825 on the balance beam.
Illinois State is looking forward to taking on in-state rival Illinois-Chicago for the second time this week.
