NORMAL, Ill. - Here at GoRedbirds.com and Redbird All-Access, we like to provide Illinois State Athletics fans with as much in-depth coverage of their favorite Redbird sports and student-athletes. With that in mind, we have begun a new weekly video feature series that will highlight a student-athlete each week from one of ISU's 19 varsity sports.

Senior men's basketball guard Champ Oguchi gets us started this week with the first of many video features we plan on run on GoRedbirds.com and Redbird All-Access.

Oguchi, who came to Illinois State with just one year of eligibility left following a strong three-year stint at Pac-10 member school Oregon, has been on a tear this season for the Redbirds. In the process, he has become one of the biggest talents on a team already filled with a lot of talent.

The Houston native ranks fourth in The Valley and best among all Redbirds in scoring at 15.0 points per game and is tied for fourth in the league in free throw percentage. With those kinds of shooting numbers behind him, Oguchi has been on a charge this year to help Illinois State seek out a Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title.

Illinois State will take on Valley foe Indiana State at 6:05 p.m. Sunday at Redbird Arena. The game will be broadcast live to a national TV audience on ESPNU.

Stay up-to-date with your favorite Redbird student-athletes throughout the spring as part of our special student-athlete vidoe feature series. GoRedbirds.com and Redbird All-Access will provide ISU fans with a weekly video interview on student-athletes from all 19 Redbird sports throughout the spring.

In the process, you'll get to know ISU's student-athletes as more than just tremendous competitors and great talents on the courts and fields. You will also get to see what makes them "tick," and what is on their mind as they compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics.
