NORMAL, Ill. - In front of a Redbird Arena-record crowd of 4,627 (record for an Illinois State women's basketball game), junior guard Maggie Krick and junior center Nicolle Lewis each recorded double-doubles to lead Illinois State past Indiana State, 69-48, Saturday afternoon in Missouri Valley Conference action on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

The double-doubles by Lewis and Krick marked the first time this season that Illinois State has produced multiple double-doubles in the same game. The double-doubles were the 10th and 11th, respectively, for Illinois State (18-4, 9-1 Missouri Valley Conference) this season.

Lewis also had a game-high six blocks in the game, which rank as the third-most by an Illinois State player in a single game in program history.

Krick recorded her first-career double-double on a game-high 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Lewis' sixth-career double-double came via 14 points on a perfect 7-for-7 effort from the floor. Two other Redbirds scored in double-figures, as senior guard Kristi Cirone produced 13 points, while sophomore guard Shala Jackson had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Indiana State (11-10, 7-3 MVC) was led by Kelsey Luna, who scored 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field. Kara Schilli was the only other Sycamore in double-figures with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Illinois State started strong offensively, as three-pointers by Ashleen Bracey and Cirone fueled a 13-2 Redbird run over the first five minutes of the game.

Scoring droughts of four-plus minutes and three minutes by Indiana State in the first half put the Sycamores in a 16-point hole at the 7:55 mark. Indiana State shot as low as .188 from the floor near the midway point of the first half. The Sycamores were able to turn it around later in the half after two-straight jumpers by Brittany Schoen and Kara Schilli near the 4:30 mark cut ISU's lead to 30-15.

Illinois State closed out the half on an 8-4 run to take a 36-19 halftime lead.

The Redbirds continued to lay on the offense early in the second half. Illinois State took its first 20-point lead of the game (44-24) near the13-minute mark, as Lewis continued to shine from the floor with a perfect 6-for-6 shooting effort midway through the second half.

Just as they did in the first half after a big offensive surge by Illinois State, the Sycamores pushed the Redbirds' lead back down near the 10-minute mark after going on a 6-2 scoring run, their biggest offensive surge of the game at that point.

Indiana State's scoring run ballooned to 12-4, as a three-pointer by the Sycamores' Bianca Jarrett cut the Redbirds' lead to 10 points (46-36).

The Redbirds quelled the Sycamore run thanks to Krick's double-double, which she recorded on a jumper from the right side of the floor near the 8-minute mark of the second half. Lewis followed her teammate with her sixth-career double-double near the 6-minute mark after she pulled down a defensive rebound.

Illinois State will return to action Thursday when it plays host to Missouri State at 7:05 p.m. on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. That game will be broadcast live in the Bloomington-Normal area on Comcast.
