NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State junior forward Bobby Hill will be sidelined for four months after a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) report revealed Monday a rupture of his patellar tendon in his right knee. This is the same knee that Hill was rehabbing a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, which he suffered in May 2008.
The St. Louis native reinjured his knee in Friday's practice.
"I just feel sick for Bobby right now," said Illinois State head coach Tim Jankovich. "He had been making great progress, and it is just unfortunate that this young man has been handed another setback in his career. He's got another long road ahead of him, but if anyone can fight through this, it's Bobby Hill."
Hill has not seen any game action this season, after transferring from Lincoln Junior College. He was named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) First-Team All-American last season after leading Lincoln College to a 26-7 record. He averaged a team-high 16.7 points per game.
In the same practice session, Hill's teammate Sead Odzic also suffered an injury to his right knee. At the time of this release, the MRI results on Odzic's injury were unknown.
