HAMMOND, La. - The Illinois State men's tennis team lost, 4-3, to Southeastern Louisiana Thursday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex in Hammond, La. The Redbirds won the doubles' point and two-out-of-six singles matches, while sophomore Timon Reichelt suffered an injury and was forced to retire early in his singles match.

In singles play, Reichelt was forced to retire early due to injury at the No. 1 singles position against Stepan Siska. Freshman Skip Span and sophomore Filip Miljevic stepped up for the team, as both won their singles matches in the super tie-breaker. Span defeated Julien Roussel, 3-6, 6-4, 10-2, at the No. 2 position, while Miljevic bested Damien Cordoba, 4-6, 7-6, 10-8, in No. 3 singles.

The doubles teams of Reichelt and Michael Hobson and Daniel Tobar and Micah LeMoine each posted victories over Southeastern Louisiana, to secure the doubles' point for the Redbirds. Reichelt and Hobson topped Guillaume Capovin and Julien Roussel, 8-5, at the No. 2 position. The tandem of Tobar and LeMoine battled against Alexis Biarneix and Jan Bezdecka to win, 9-7, in No. 3 doubles.

"I'm happy we won the doubles' point," said head coach Cris James. "Unfortunately, Timon suffered an injury, but Skip and Filip stepped up for the team and won both of their singles matches."

The Redbirds return home to host Butler, Friday, March 20, at 2 p.m., at the Gregory Street Courts.
