Prorok Concludes Day One of Competition at NCAA Diving Regionals

March 13, 2009

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State junior diver Katelyn Prorok finished the first day of competition at the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Friday, as the Redbird concluded competition with a 26th-place finish on the three-meter board.

"I was really proud of how Katelyn handled herself in competition today," said head diving coach Phil Hoffmann. "She dove right after a 2008 Olympian, who won the event and she competed well against a high caliber of diving. I look forward to seeing how today's competition will to help her as she enters competition tomorrow."

Prorok finished competition with a score of 222.85 on the three-meter board during preliminary rounds, placing 26 out of 37 overall. With only the top-eighteen performers advancing to final-round action, Prorok's score was not enough to move her into finals.

2008 Olympian Christina Loukas (Indiana) dominated competition on the three-meter board as she took home first place for the Hoosiers. Purdue diver Casey Matthews and Indiana diver Brittany Feldman rounded out the top-three performances on the three-meter board as they finished second and third, respectively.

NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals will continue Saturday with the one-meter board preliminary rounds beginning at 1 p.m.
