Schick Selected to Compete in NCAA Regionals

NORMAL, Ill. - Sophomore Erica Schick was selected to compete in the all-around at the 2009 NCAA South Central Regional Championship. Senior Meaghan Koshman and sophomore Hannah Deutsch were picked as first-team alternates on the vault and beam, respectively. The event will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., on April 4, and the meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.

The NCAA Regionals are broken down into six regions. The teams and individual gymnasts will travel to their assigned location. Each region has six teams, five all-around competitors, who are not qualified with a team, and one individual event specialist per event. The individual specialist must have a minimum Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.4.

Schick will be competing against Holly Reichard from Northern Illinois, Annie Kachman from Illinois-Chicago, and Sandra Blake and Rikara Turner from Southeast Missouri State.

Schick will enter the all-around competition with a RQS of 38.800. At the MIC Championship Meet, Schick was named to the all-conference team. She also placed second in the all-around with a 39.000, tying her career-best.

Koshman and Deutsch were selected as first-team alternates. Koshman has an RQS of 9.815 on the vault, while Deutsch has a score of 9.785 on the beam. Both gymnasts were picked as part of the Midwest Independent All-Conference Team. Koshman placed second on the vault with a score of 9.850, while Deutsch placed first on the floor with her score of 9.850 during Saturday's competition.
