ST. LOUIS -
Illinois State's Dinma Odiakosa received second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete honors Wednesday by the league office, as voted on by the conference's sports information directors.
Odiakosa is actually the first Redbird to be named to the scholar-athlete team since Neil Plank won back-to-back honors in 2005 and 2006. Plank was also the Prairie Farms Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year each of those seasons.
Odiakosa carries a 3.04 grade-point average, while pursuing his degree in telecommunications management. The Redbird junior averaged nine points per game during the regular season and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per contest. He also led the conference with a 62.4 field goal percentage and 90 offensive rebounds.
This is the second postseason honor for Odiakosa, who was named to the league's all-defensive team Tuesday.
