RIO VERDE, Ariz. - Junior Stacey Miller led the Illinois State women's golf team to a 54-hole team score of 927 (311-304-312) and a two-way tie for 10th place at the Duramed Collegiate Invitational Sunday. Miller fired a 10-over-par 223 (76-72-75) in three rounds to finish the tournament in a four-way tie for fifth place on the Quail Run Golf Course. The Redbirds shared 10th place with Kansas State.

"Once again, Stacey (Miller) pulled through for us, but we couldn't get the whole team behind her," said head coach Darby Sligh. "It will be good to have a few days off to regroup before our next tournament (Baylor Intercollegiate)."

Junior Marisa Milligan was the only other Redbird to finish the tournament in the top-25. Milligan carded a final score 15-over-par 228 (78-74-76) to finish the tournament in a four-way tie for 22nd place. Senior Marci Hill (78-81-80) and junior Laura Harris (79-79-81) ended the tournament in six-way tie for 63rd place with a final score of 239. Senior Tiffany Hockensmith carded a three-round score of 242 (82-79-81) on the par-71 course.

Kansas stayed in first place to win the tournament with a 31-over-par team score of 883 (294-295-294). Arkansas-Little Rock moved into second place with a team score of 907 (312-298-297), while Eastern Michigan moved into third place with a 54-hole team total of 914 (310-304-300). The Redbirds bested Missouri Valley Conference rivals Missouri State (929), Southern Illinois (935) and Bradley (939).

Sara Wikstrom (Arkansas-Little Rock) and Meghan Gockel (Kansas) won the tournament with a 5-over-par 218, while Boram Lee (Toledo) and Kelsey Verbeten (Wisconsin) tied for third place with a 220.

The Redbirds will have a week break before returning to action at the Baylor Intercollegiate March 16-17.
