ST. LOUIS - Illinois State men's golfer Kyle Bragg earned his third Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week Award of the 2008-09 season, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. Bragg finished tied for 20th in the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark., after he carded a 7-over-par 223 (76-72-75)March 30-31.
Bragg posted a 4-over-par 76 and was tied for 41st place after the opening round of the 54-hole tournament. The junior's even-par 72 in the second round moved him up15 spots on the leader board and is now tied for 26th place going into the final round. Despite swirling winds and wet conditions, the Normal, Ill., native still carded a 3-over-par 75 and ended the tournament in a share of 20th place.
Bragg helped lead the Redbirds to an eighth-place finish after they tallied a three-round total of 897 (302-293-302) and finished ahead of Missouri Valley foes Northern Iowa (956) and Missouri State (961). Bragg was low among Missouri Valley Conference players.
The Redbirds next stop will be at the Branson Creek Invitational at Branson Creek Golf Club April 7-8 in Branson, Mo.
