Enrollment for Illinois State head diving coach Phil Hoffman's summer diving camps is currently open. Four diving camp sessions will be offered, with the first two camps open for divers ages 8-18 of all skill level, and the final two camps open to freshmen entering high school and older.
The first and second diving sessions are open to divers ages 8-18 of all skill level and will be held July 6-8 and July 9-11. The third and fourth diving camps are open to freshman entering high school and older and will be held July 13-15 and July 16-18. Each diving camp will instruct divers in the basics of diving in a safe and educational environment. Hoffmann and his staff will help divers with previous experience to improve their skills, conduct dryland training with specific skills and instruction, and promote the ability to have fun and learn new tricks.
The camps cost $125 for one session, $240 for two sessions, $350 for three sessions, and $450 for four sessions. A $75 deposit for one or two sessions and a $150 deposit for three or four sessions is due at the time of enrollment, with the remaining balance due at camp check-in. The fee covers daily instruction, a camp t-shirt, a video of the athlete diving, camp insurance, and a pizza party on the final day of camp. Registration is due June 26. Registration postmarked after June 26 will be charged a $20 late fee.
In the 2008-09 season, Hoffmann was named the Missouri Valley Conference Diving Coach of the Year. This season Hoffmann had a Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Year, NCAA Zone Qualifier, one-meter board conference champion, and eight-top eight finishers in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship. He has worked with top junior and senior level divers at the U.S. Elite Diving Academy and the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He has coached many national champions and Olympic hopefuls. He is a safety certified U.S. diving coach and has extensive water and dryland training experience, including proficiency at safety harness spotting over water and land.
