The Illinois State softball team's makeup Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader against Southern Illinois was rained out Monday afternoon after the two teams made it through three full innings of play. The doubleheader was a makeup of a three-game conference series that was snowed out March 28-29.
Rain began falling heavily in the top of the fourth inning with Southern Illinois leading, 2-0. Statistics from the game will not count toward either team's official season statistics, and the games will not be made up.
Illinois State will take a break from Missouri Valley Conference action Tuesday when it travels to DeKalb, Ill., for a 5 p.m. non-conference game against Northern Illinois. The Redbirds will then close out the regular season with a three-game conference series Saturday and Sunday at Evansville.
