ISU-SIU-Edwardsville Series Opener Postponed

May 15, 2009

NORMAL, Ill. - The series opener between Illinois State and SIU-Edwardsville has been postponed due to poor weather conditions, the Redbird coaching staff announced Friday afternoon. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Redbirds and Cougars will play back-to-back seven-inning games, with Illinois State honoring its 1969 College Division National Championship team prior to the second contest. Along with the game, Illinois State has moved its Pony League Recognition Day to Saturday. Pony League participants wearing their team apparel will receive free admission to the doubleheader. The on-field activities for the Pony Leaguers have been cancelled due to other events.

Illinois State was forced to cancel its 10th contest of the season Wednesday against Valparaiso and has had to adjust its schedule 16 times because of poor weather conditions this season. Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale, which includes a special senior sendoff, remains unchanged.
