COLUMBUS, Ohio - Struggles on the back end of the day sent Illinois State to a score of 315 in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional Friday afternoon at the Scarlet Golf Course. The Redbirds stand at a 48-over-par 626 after two rounds (36 holes), putting them in 17th place heading into the final round of competition Saturday.

"We had another solid start with a sour finish," said head coach Darby Sligh. "This golf course forces you to be perfect and we struggled with errant shots and three-putts on the final nine holes. I'm proud of the way we are fighting and we are due for a good round soon! This has been another great experience for this veteran squad, and they are holding their own on the national scene."

Junior Stacey Miller started the day in a tie for fifth place with a 1-under-par performance in the first round. She shot an 8-over-par 80 in the second round, dropping her back into a tie for 24th place at seven-over-par (161) for the tournament.

Junior Marisa Milligan carded a 5-over-par 77 Friday, putting her in a tie for 44th place overall (163). Junior Laura Harris improved on her score from the first day with a 4-over-par 76, ISU's best total of the round, moving her into a tie for 64th place (168). Senior Tiffany Hockensmith also took four strokes off of her score from the first day with with an 8-over par 80. Senior Marci Hill shot an 89 in the second round.

UCLA remains in first place and is the only team under par for the tournament. The Bruins also have the top-two individuals, with Stephanie Kono and Maria Jose Uribe tied for first at 5-under-par. Chattanooga holds the coveted eight spot, the final team to make the cut for the NCAA Championship, but there are four teams within seven strokes of the Mocs.
