NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State University Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger will officially announce Mark Kingston as the new head coach of the Redbirds’ baseball team during a press conference in the team room at the Kaufman Football Building Wednesday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m.

Kingston served as the Redbirds’ associate head coach during the 2009 season and helped the team advance to the postseason for the first time since 2001. Kingston was an assistant coach at Tulane University in charge of hitting and recruiting for seven years after spending two seasons at Miami (Fla.), where the Hurricanes won a National Championship. Kingston spent the 1999 season at Illinois State and helped the Redbirds to one of the most prolific offensive seasons in school history. He started his coaching career at Purdue University.
