UNCASVILLE, Conn. -
Former Illinois State guard Kristi Cirone was waived by the Connecticut Sun Friday after playing four games in the WNBA. Cirone, the first Illinois State player to play in the WNBA, was waived in order to make room on the roster for veteran guard Tan White, who was signed as a free agent.
In four games, Cirone averaged 1.8 points and 1.0 assist per game while playing 5.8 minutes per contest. She shot 40 percent from the field (2-5), 33.3 percent from three-point range (1-3) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (2-3). She handed out four assists on the season and did not commit a turnover.
Cirone signed with the Sun as an undrafted free agent and made the team's 11-player roster after a two-week training camp. She was the only undrafted rookie to start the season on a WNBA roster.
White was the second overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft and played four seasons for the Indiana Fever. She was released prior to the 2009 season.
