Illinois State senior golfer Tommy Bliefnick shot a 3-under-par 69 to win the Illinois Open Qualifier at Crestwicke Country Club Wednesday.
The Decatur, Ill., native qualified for the 60th Illinois Open Championship at Hawthorne Woods which will take place July 27-29. ISU-recruit Parker Frieburg also qualified for the tournament. The Quincy, Ill., native tied for fifth-place after firing an even-par 72.
Bliefnick competed in 31 rounds for the Redbirds his junior year and was tied for third on the team with a 74.6 scoring-average. He was named an All-Valley selection in 2008 and 2009.
Senior Kyle Bragg and junior Drew North, also competed in the qualifier, but did not advance. Both carded a 2-over-par 74.
