Redbirds-Ramblers Series
Illinois State leads the all-time series with Loyola, 10-1, and has won the last two meetings. The two teams have not met since 1997.
Last Time Out
Illinois State came in second place in the 2009 Redbird Classic, posting a 2-1 record. The Redbirds beat Gardner-Webb and Texas Arlington, but lost to Oral Roberts in their final match. Junior Mallory Leggett and sophomore Tabitha Visk were both named to the Redbird Classic All-Tournament Team. The win over Gardner-Webb snapped a seven-match season-opener losing streak.
Dynamic Duo
Junior Mallory Leggett and sophomore Tabitha Visk were both named to the Redbird Classic All-Tournament Team. Both players had double-digit kills in all three matches, recorded more than 30 digs and had five service aces. Visk had the first double-digit kill matches of her career.
A Look Around The Valley
Eight of the 10 Missouri Valley Conference teams started out the 2009 season with records of .500 or better. Southern Illinois led the way with four wins at the Northern Illinois Invitational. Bradley and Drake both wen 3-1 in the opening weekend and Evansville, Northern Iowa and Wichita State matched ISU's start of 2-1.
