Hancock Stadium Tailgating Policies Tweaked

Sept. 11, 2009

NORMAL, Ill. -

  • Tailgating Procedures and Map

Updated Illinois State University tailgating procedures were released by the ISU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, ISU Police Department and ISU Parking and Transportation Services Friday, which will take effect immediately.

Beginning at midnight, the night before a Redbird football game, the general public tailgate lots (F-83 [U-High Lot], G-83 [Ropp Lot] and G-73 [Main Street Lot]) will be barricaded. Any motorized vehicles left in those lots from midnight until 8 a.m., on game day will be re-located, and may be ticketed or towed.

The lots will be opened at 8 a.m., on Redbird football game days, regardless of the kickoff time. However, there will be a charge of $5 for each car/tailgate space, and $20 per each recreational vehicle (RV). The one car/tailgate per space policy will still be strictly enforced.

In addition, the policy reminds patrons about the clearing of the emergency access lanes. Red lines have been painted in the public tailgating lots, and the patrons are asked to keep all of their equipment, supplies or games behind those lines to allow access for an emergency vehicle, if needed.

Fans will have their first opportunity to tailgate, Sept. 19 when the Redbirds host Austin Peay State at 6:30 p.m., for the 2009 home opener at Hancock Stadium.
